Westside, Norris take state titles
The Nebraska state baseball tournament saw two champions crowned Thursday: Omaha Westside in Class A and Norris in Class B. The Warriors worked an 8-0 shutout win over Millard South in the afternoon final at Werner Park. Norris, which defeated Gross 9-2 earlier in the day to earn a finals spot, edged Lincoln Pius X 3-2 at Haymarket Park in Lincoln to claim its championship.

The baseball game was secondary Tuesday night when Omaha Creighton Prep played at Omaha Burke. The Bulldogs raised more than $4,400 on Burke vs. Cancer night, with half of that money going to national research and the other half going to Omaha Children's Hospital and Research Center.
